Hillingdon Training Session.

Posted on Friday 1 February 2008 by Nick Bloom

As some of you are aware, we’ve arranged a morning training session at Hillingdon track on Sunday Feb 10th. Our coach will be Rocco Richardson, who many of you know from Audaxing. He will meet us at Ruislip Manor tube station at 9.30 and lead us to the circuit, which is open to all on Sundays - we don’t have it to ourselves, so will have to be well-behaved and dignified. If that is possible.

The aim is to learn how to ride efficiently as a group - following a wheel, riding in formation, ‘through and off’ . These are quite basic skills for anyone riding with a proper road club, and useful for those entering sportives or even audaxing - it’s just polite to be able to take your turn in front if you join a group, it can help a small group keep a good pace, it is useful if you have to nurse a tired rider for a while. It may even mean we can ride more efficently on a Sunday, especially when we have to negotiate a busy ‘A’ road or face an unexpected detour.

I hope as many as possble will turn out - non-regulars are of course welcome to join us. You should be of 3* standard to join in. For safety, only drop bar road bikes, no panniers or bar-bags. Reluctantly, I have to also say no fixed-wheel or singlespeed.

After the track session, we’ll go in search of lunch (which may be later than usual) and an afternoon ride, probably coming back to a Metropolitan line station.
