Hassocks to Brighton via Ditchling Beacon.  Follow the north ridge of the South Downs east to Ditchling Beacon, over Stanmer Down to the coast east of Brighton, and via the sea front to the station. bring a picnic lunch. 23km (with option to leave the walk after 12km at Falmer station). Meet London Bridge 08.50 for 09.12 train to Hassocks, arrive 10.04. Buy return to Brighton.

Ride: "Walk with Dinosaurs" in parks and heights of south east London.  Sites of Festival of Britain and sewage plant transformed into a country park plus one of the height of London. Pub lunch. Return by train. Back in London about 17.30. Meet 09.15 on Broad Walk, Kensington Gardens by Cafe (north end by Bayswater Road) for 09.30 start.

Crane River and Bushy Park.  Follow the Thames past Marble Hill and Orleans House to the Crane River path. Pub Lunch at Hampton Hill. Through Bushy Park to Teddington Lock and back along the Thames Path to Richmond. Return after 12km from Kingston or 18km back to Richmond. Meet Richmond Station 09.45 for 10.00 away. Connecting train leaves Waterloo 09.28.

The Lea Valley.  Linear ride up the Lea Valley towpath. See some of London's industrial heritage. The Markfield Road Beam Engine will be in steam. Meet at Limehouse Station at 10.00. Return by train to Central London from wherever the ride ride reaches (e.g. Broxbourne).

* Easier and shorter 30-50 km (20-30 miles) – more emphasis on the social aspect, for families, children, parents, grandparents ...
** Medium distance 55-85 km (35-55m) – steady pace yet time to enjoy lunch, etc.
**/*** Additional rides in the summer months that are a little more challenging than regular ** rides.
*** Faster and generally longer 80-120km (50-75m) and often hilly – suitable for a light touring or road bike ...
**** A bit faster again and sometimes longer (100km+), with fewer stops – but normally a pub/cafe lunch – these rides are for experienced Audax or Sportive riders.
