Tour I – from la Manche to the Mountains   –   11th – 25th June

Cycle 80km each day for two weeks from the Channel or join the tour near Paris for one week staying in small hotels or B&Bs. The cost will be about £50 per day not including travel.

Sat 11 June

Travel by train to Dover and by ferry to stay overnight in Calais.

Sun 12 – Tue 14 June

Cycle for three days to Compiègne. You can also join the tour here on Tuesday 14th June by taking the Eurostar train to Paris and changing at the same station, Gare du Nord, onto a local train to Compiègne.

Wed 15 – Sun 19 June

Cycle from the Compiègne forest to the Champagne and Burgundy vineyards then follow the cycle path alongside the Burgundy Canal to arrive on Sunday in the historic city of Beaune where we stay for two nights.

Mon 20 June

Explore the city of Beaune or cycle around the Cote d'Or vineyards.

Tue 21 June

Follow the Vineyard Way cycle route and beside the Canal du Centre to join the Voie Verte rail cycle path to Cluny.

Wed 22 June

Continue on the cycle path past Macon and through the lakes of the Dombe.

Thu 23 June

Follow the Rhône river into the mountainous Chartreuse uplands. Alternatively in the afternoon head towards the railway to Grenoble for return on Friday to London.

Fri 24 – Sat 25 June

Enter the Alps and on Saturday cross over Col du Lautaret to Briancon and follow the Durance valley to Guillestre. Return by TGV trains from Grenoble or Guillestre then Eurostar to London or continue onto the Tour Brianconnais.




Tour II – Tour Brianconnais   –   25th – 2nd July

We will be staying in a gite in the town of Guillestre in the High Alps near the Ecrins and the Queyras natural parks. The gorge of the Guil river leads deep into the valleys of the Queyras Natural Park with its 3000m ridges and peaks, including the 3200m Pain de Sucre on the border with Italy and the Col de Peas to whet your appetite. Nearby are the fortified villages of Mont Dauphin and Chateau-Queyras and the renown mountain passes of Col d'Izoard and Col de Vars. Across the Durance river, the Vallouise valley leads into the Ecrins mountain park to the Pré de Madame Carle surrounded by glaciers and mountain peaks.

Travel by Eurostar and TGV or Night Sleeper trains to Guillestre. Return to London or continue onto the Tour d'Oisans.




Tour III – Tour d'Oisans   –   2nd – 9th July

In the Veneon valley among alpine peaks near the town of Bourg d'Oisans at the foot of the famous climb up to Alpe d'Huez, We will be staying in Gites-de-France holiday apartments in the Veneon valley. Cycle up the valley into the Ecrins Natural Park or up the fabled 21 bend climb to Alpe d'Huez. Nearby are the mountain passes of Col de Galibier and Croix de Fer. Balcony roads look down into the Romanche valley.

Travel by Eurostar and TGV trains to Grenoble then a local bus or join from the Brianconnais tour.

The exact routes and overnight stops may vary according to the accommodation available.

The Brianconnais and Oisans tours include accommodation, meals provided by Sylvie and recommended cycle routes by Dave. Your bike can be transported by our van or you can bring your bike with you on the train.
